Down and Out, but Happy !

What could be nicer than packing one's suitcases and flying off into
the sunset, enjoying a few relaxing weeks to just laze in the sun,
explore the new environment and to indulge in the area's top cuisine.
Simply leaving behind the everyday rat-race and make the most of
all the sights and sounds of your HOLIDAY/ VACATION ?
But when our time is up, most of us will be ready
to travel back home again.
How anyone could choose to lead a life as THIS, is simply beyond my
comprehension !
We watched a documentary film on tv last night showing people (young
and not so young) "living" in a stone shack or an ordinary camping tent
on the beautiful holiday paradise island of MALLORCA - SPAIN.
There are a number of people who prefer to live a life with no job,
no income and homeless - what a never ending struggle to survive !
Many of these AUSSTEIGER or dropouts, have left their families and
country of origin behind (mostly Germans) to live a life in poverty on
the sunny island.
The pictures above, shows only a little of a young man's daily struggle
to survive on a holiday island without money.
He's helping himself to a few branches off a tree and will use it as firewood
during the rainy and bitterly cold months of Winter in his shack.
The next picture shows how the staff of a Supermarket reels out a
waste container, and he's waiting his chance to look inside and take
"home" his free meal for the evening.
The bottom picture shows his stoney domain and where he chooses to
live and spend the rest of his days in poverty and loneliness.
As seen on television last night.
All I can add to this is HOME SWEET HOME and
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME !!

Is this Cute ? or Is this Cute ?

What an uproar about this cute and cuddly bear cub called
*Knut* in a Berlin Zoo.

An animal rights activist insisted Monday the bear would have been
better off dead than raised by humans - "The zoo must kill the
bear! "
This is obviously a person who feels nothing for animals, and
was born heartless!

When *Knut* the 19 pound bear was born last December, his
mother ignored him and his brother who died.
Luckilly zoo officials intervened, choosing to raise the cub them-
selves.

"The killing of an animal has nothing to do with animal
protection" said Wolfgang Apel, head of the German Federation
for the Protection of Animals.

If a polar bear mother (or any other animal) rejects a baby, I
think it's only correct for the people of the zoo to follow
the instincts of nature - this poor little thing wouldn't stand
a chance out in the wild !

But, thank goodness he's in good hands in the Berlin zoo, drink-
ing from his bottle, bathing and playing with teddy bears and
all kind of toys, everything to keep him a happy and healthy
little cub.
My wish for the animal rights activist is, to pay a visit to the zoo
in about 2 years from now - and with a little luck *Knut* will re-
member the nasty little man with the "Death wish" and make
a good job of scarring the pants off him.

Is This For Real ? !

LET'S HAVE A MID- WEEK LAUGH !!!

Excuse Notes Written To School Teachers

"My son is under the doctor's care and should not take P.E. today," wrote a
parent. "Please execute him."

"Please excuse Mary for being absent," wrote another parent. "She was sick
and I had her shot."

These drastic measures were inadvertently taken in notes written by parents
to excuse their children's absences from school.

In all fairness to pupils throughout the land, I must point out that
slaughtering the English language is a practice that is not limited opnly to
students. An astonishing number of grownups blithely go about murdering the
King's English without any inkling that they are committing a serious crime.
If you think that today's students aren't learning all they should, check
out some of the writing miscreated by their moms and dads. the following are
actual excuse notes received by teachers.

Dear School:
Please eckuse John being absent on Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32,
and also 33.

Please excuse Gloria from Jim today. She is administrating.

Pleazse excuse Roland from P.E. for a few day. Yesterday he fell out of
a tree and misplaced his hip.

John has been absent because he had two teeth taken off his face.

Carlos was absent yesterday because he was playing football. He was
hurt in the growing part.

Mary could not come to school because she has been bothered by very
close veins.

Chris will not be in school cus he has an acre in his side.

Please excuse Ray Friday from school. He has very loose vowels.

Please excuse pedro from being absent yesterday. He had (several
mispellings of diarrhea crossed out) the shits.

Please excuse Tom for being absent yesterday. He had diarrhea and his
boots leak.

Irving was absent this morning because he missed his bust.

Please excuse Jimmy for being. It was his father's fault.

I kept Billie home because she had to go Christmas shopping because
I don't know what size she wear.

Please excuse Harriet for missing school yesterday. We forget to
get the Sunday paper off the porch. and when we found it Monday,
we thought it was Sunday.

Please excuse my son's tardiness. I forgot to wake him up and I did not
find him till I started making the beds.

Sally won't be in school a week from Friday. We have to attend a
funeral.

My daughter was absent yesterday because she was tired. She spent the
weekend with the Marine's.

Please excuse Mary from being absent yesterday. She was in bed with
gramps.

Gloria was absent yesterday as she was having a gangover.

Please excuse Burma, she had been sick and under the doctor.

Maryann was absent December 11-16, because she had a fever, sore throat,
headache, and upset stomach. Her sister was also sick, fever and sore
throat, her brother had a low grade fever and ached all over. I wasn't
the berst either, sore throat and fever. There must be the flu going
around school, her father even got hot last night.

"That Ugly Thing............"

Yesterday the radio announcer said "That ugly thing's back again!"
What he meant was, Winter will soon pay us a visit - sooner than
expected.
We've been so lucky to enjoy an early Spring - but I should have
known it was too good to be true, nevertheless, the warm and cozy weather
was most welcome and enjoyable - and to watch how everything under
the ground woke up from a long winter sleep.
Far too early, but always a welcome sight
Beautiful Apple blossoms. ( I took these pics only last week with the full
intention to write something about our gorgeous weather)
And as "Bob's your uncle" there it was early this morning, no not uncle
Bob, THE WINTER!

A picture of the rooftop of our little paradise Technical college/hotel
across the street.

This is the sight that greeted me this morning, ever so cold and gloomy!!!

It's Week-end !

Have you ever noticed...... Anybody going slower than you
is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac ?
George Carlin.

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started

walking 5 miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't

know where the hell she is. Ellen DeGeneris

Don't be a maniac, take it easy and please don't get lost

along the way.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END !!

Too much of a good thing ? !

This is a story I read in our local newspaper about a 7 year
old girl living in Chicago and weighs 222kg.
This child eats 15 *Happy meals* a day ( we all know where to
find those meals) and drinks 5 litre Cola daily.
When she was only 4 years old she already weighed over
100kg.
Due to obesity she can only scoop her body across the floor,
struggling to breathe even when she tries to get out of a chair, and
she's constantly asking for food.
Doctors have now ordered her into a pediatric hospital where
she was put on a strict diet to loose weight.
Spoiling a child by treating him/her to the occasional *Happy
meal* treat is one thing, but how can a parent watch her own
child practically eat him/herself to death ?

Friday wishes

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and
dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
Robert A. Heinlein

In the above case, it looks as if the dog did exactly as she pleased !
HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END !!

Lucky in Lottery ?

Just imagine, there are at least 2 winning tickets in the
370 MILLION DOLLAR LOTTERY, and you're one of the winners !!!

That's a staggering amount of of money to spend, and quite honostly, I

won't know where to start.

I have given the matter of sudden wealth, some thought.

Firstly get it into the Fort Knox as soon as possible, relax, don't act irrational -

I can imagine how difficult it must be with so much lolly lying

around at home.

I will make a substantial donation to the needy in this world.

I will definately donate to animal organisations, also to animals

in stress and in desperate need of help - No wait a minute, I have a better

idea. I will buy an island, and have all the needy animals living there

to spend their days at leasure, and

hire loads of people to care for them, (employment for those who can't

find work)

There is no end to all one can do with so much money, but before I

tell you about my crazy ideas, I am interested to know what bloggers

will if you should win such a kings ransom !

Twinkle Toes or Leathal Weapon ?

Should this Lady play "footsie" under the table ?
How does she keep her toes warm during Winter ?
How often does she clip her toenails ?
WHAT DO YOU THINK ?

Nightmare in Paradise

Last year I've blogged about the Technical college/hotel which is

situated almost directly opposite the building where we live - see Sept 9

2006 Peace and Tranquility.

Since December last year the gardeners have big plans up their sleeves,

but as yet they've done a pretty good job of disturbing not only the

beauty but also the peace and quiet of the little paradise in the city.

Once apon a time we had a lush green lawn - the ideal spot to

catch a tan during Summer right through to the early Autumn - de-

pending on the mood of the weather, is now an unsightly stretch of mud

and muck.

People could sit on garden chairs or on the grass, enjoying a cold drink

and a chat, or a quick cigarette break before getting back to their

seminar classes.

The whole entire area has also been a playground for my dog (this

is the only place simular to a park, where dogs are allowed in)

I only have to say the magic words "Come on Fuji, we're going to the

KALABASSE !" and the excited animal will trip herself (and me over in the

process) to get out the front door fast enough. She'd be so over-

excited, I will have difficulties in attaching the lead to her dog collar.

On hot and sticky Summer days I'd escape to the place of sheer

bliss to hear the birds in the trees, observe the squirrels and to enjoy

the cool and pleasant shade provided by the large old trees in the area,

while Fuji will enjoy a well deserves backscratch by rolling on the

beautiful green lawn.

I'm posting a few pictures of what it looked like before disaster struck

and what a merry mess it's now - and hopefully we will once again, soon,

be able to enjoy the little paradise - not far from home - in our very busy

street !

Have a Rocking Good Friday !

1. Stop worrying, worry kills life.

2. Begin each day with a prayer, it will arm your soul.

3. Control appetite. Over-indulgence clogs body and mind.

4. Accept your limitations....

5. Don't envy. It wastes time and energy.

6. Have faith in people. Cynicism sours the disposition.

7. Find a hobby. It will relax your nerves.

8. Read a book a week to stimulate imagination

and broaden your views.

9. Spend some time alone for the peace of solitude

and silence.

10. Try to want what you have, instead of spending your

strength trying to get what you want.

Abraham L. Feinberg

WISHING YOU ALL A SUPER FRIDAY AND AN ADVENTUROUS
WEEK-END !!!
