Is this Cute ? or Is this Cute ?

What an uproar about this cute and cuddly bear cub called
*Knut* in a Berlin Zoo.

An animal rights activist insisted Monday the bear would have been
better off dead than raised by humans - "The zoo must kill the
bear! "
This is obviously a person who feels nothing for animals, and
was born heartless!

When *Knut* the 19 pound bear was born last December, his
mother ignored him and his brother who died.
Luckilly zoo officials intervened, choosing to raise the cub them-
selves.

"The killing of an animal has nothing to do with animal
protection" said Wolfgang Apel, head of the German Federation
for the Protection of Animals.

If a polar bear mother (or any other animal) rejects a baby, I
think it's only correct for the people of the zoo to follow
the instincts of nature - this poor little thing wouldn't stand
a chance out in the wild !

But, thank goodness he's in good hands in the Berlin zoo, drink-
ing from his bottle, bathing and playing with teddy bears and
all kind of toys, everything to keep him a happy and healthy
little cub.
My wish for the animal rights activist is, to pay a visit to the zoo
in about 2 years from now - and with a little luck *Knut* will re-
member the nasty little man with the "Death wish" and make
a good job of scarring the pants off him.

Yes he is very cute, and has the right to live just as we have. Polar bears are declining in the wild, so we need to keep this litle guy alive and well, for all to see.

I know what you mean, but I saw a Polar Bear at a Zoo a few years ago, and it had been driven mad by it's small enclosure, they really should not be kept in a Zoo, I can see the point the person was getting at, because it would not last very long in the wild! Although, how anyone could kill that cuddly ball of fur is beyond me

I'm going to be serious here for once in my Blogworld.

Firstly zoos serve a very important purpose in this world. They have fortunately become breeding and research centres for some of our more endangered species. The days of the Victorian sideshow are gone.

Secondly, when humans intervene and put an animal in a zoo, it would be inhumane to let the animal die because his mother has rejected it. Further intervention is necessary and who knows, this young man could sire the future generation of polar bears to be returned to the wild and thus keep them off the extinct list.

I think animal rights activists need to pull their heads out their backsides and take a look at the bigger picture.

Keep the animals, kill the activists. It's the only sane solution.

but i do agree with kevin he should not be in a zoo some alternative should be sought whilst he's young enough to adjust. maybe an Antarctic Safari park!
how could anyone even think of killing him!!!

I can't believe the news just blamed this cute little animal on the death of their Panda in the same zoo just because so many people came to see him that the overflow crowds caused the Panda's death!!! Oh my gosh, what's next?????

That is one totally mixed up "activist". Why would anything rather be dead than being cared for by loving hands. Polar bears don't have it so good out in the wild, especially cubs......

I have to think that activist must have been IGNORED by his mother and has grown up twisted in mind.
