How Safe are We?

Here is a picture of the Mall. Weil am Rhein in Germany. My cupboard is as bare as *Old Mother Hubbard's* not
even a bone to be found for the poor dog, and my fridge is totally

empty!
So instead of loafing around or galavanting someplace else, we
made a quick getaway across the Swiss Border and over to the
German side to fill our empty food cupboards.
The reason why I'm always floating between the German Malls
and Supermarkets? Simply because their food stores have so
much more to offer.
For the life of me I can't find the much needed products on the
Swiss food shelves.

We parked the car and ducky marched through the Mall, and as we

made our way to the Supermarket section, Mr.CC pointed at a lost

and forlorn shopping packet propped up against the wall,

"Oh, look at that, someone forgot their shopping packet!" he said

I turned to look at where he was pointing, and I said "I don't like the look

of that, there could be a bomb inside!"

By the time we reached the entrance of the supermarket, the packet

was forgotten.

Shopping for food on a Saturday, especially in a large foodstore isn't

something I enjoy doing - too many people and finding parking

is a mission BUT, I had my shopping list ready, so I didn't have to hunt for

the things I needed.

It was a case of ENTER FETCH PAY AND LEAVE, which we did

and I,m sure we didn't spend more than 3/4 hour shopping.

We headed for the lifts to get us to the car park.

We were stopped midway by a large steel wall, blocking us from get-

ting any further.

I noticed an open steel door on the left side of the steel wall, but

people couldn't get through with their trolleys, we were trapped by a

steel frame on the floor belonging to the steel wall contraption.

People were waiting on both sides of this massive and threatening

obstacle, and believe me, I wanted to run like a Renegade.

I felt scared and trapped, and I wanted to go back to the safety of my home.

Somehow between the two of us, we managed to get our trolley across the

steel frame, and we were outta there like a flash of lightning - back to the

car.

What puzzled us was the fact that shoppers weren't informed about any

danger what so ever.

Somehow I kept getting visions of that unattended lost and forlorn

packet propped up against the wall!!

I am with you, that would indeed make me feel trapped. If it were a bomb.....and people were trying to get past that gate, running, shoving, pushing, well you get the idea.....I am sure it crossed your mind as well.

Homeland security is tight here, there is much happening right now to give people concern. I just flew from Atlanta to San Francisco, Security was so much toughter than last year. but I was glad....

We are spoiled in the US......stores are loaded with everything. And I guess our prices are far lower than what you pay there also.

I was shopping behind a man from out of the country once, he was buying to ship elsewhere, he had two shopping carts full of just Kotex.

Nea: Not a pleasant situation to be
in, all I could think of was to get out as fast as possible.
The security is tight in Strasbourg, security quards everywhere, checking and watching
constantly - which is good!
As for the man with the Kotex, you should see (some) Swiss shoppers
in Germany, boy do they go overboard!! LOL!

These days, abandoned bags need to be reported--regardless of the country or province. Unfortunately. It's probably innocent, but even the lost could be found.

It definitely is a scary experience.
What is the use of making advances in the field of science and medicine, if we are condemned to life of terror ? Sad.
