The near disaster.

On Monday morning girlchild usually gets the day off from work and then
she will hop on the train to visit me, but last Monday she had all
hands on deck, and a visit to me and our city was out of the question.
On such occasions we will have a telephone conversation which will last
between two to three hours which will make up for us not
spending quality time together
So, as we're nattering the hours away, we were constantly disturbed by the
noisy sounds of Fire engines, police cars and ambulances speeding by.
Believe me, there were moments when we had to stop chatting because
we couldn't hear what the other was saying.
Eventually I looked out the living room window to see what the
commotion was all about.
That's when I saw the black smoke.

Later that afternoon I heard on the news that a light aircraft went
into a three storey building, not very far from where we're living.
After the pilot flew off from the airport (not far from us) he ran into technical
problems and crashed down into this building, about 10minutes after takeoff.
He was killed instantly and his body was found at a nearby playground
where 19 children were playing only minutes ago.

It is still a puzzle to me, how something like this can happen.
When a plane crashes into a building, the number of dead and injured
people will be fairly large, but what happened here on Monday
morning must be an absolute miracle (with no-one killed but the pilot)
I am terribly sorry for the pilot who was on his way to the USA, but
tragically lost his life - not to mention his family who are grief
stricken and must feel absolutely soul destroyed.

It's a very frightening and distressing thought.

Here today but we could be gone tomorrow ! !

Thank you girls, yes, the very thought that the plane could have hit our building, is frightening!!
There's an awful lot of speculation as to why his plane went down so fast after take off.
Some people are very angry as to why he took off with 1,700 litres
of kerosene in the tank.
Unfortunately, speculation and anger won't bring the man back to life.

Wow, what a terrible disaster this could have been, how sad for his family but what a miracle that more people weren't hurt.
